3 Things Your Cleaning Company Is Not Doing That Your Competitors Are

cleaning company

According to the dictionary, the definition of the word Entropy is often used loosely to refer to: “the breakdown or disorganization of any system, a lack of order or predictability; gradual decline into disorder.” The progressive decline into disorder sounds like most of our homes throughout the week. From piling up dishes in the sink to an overfilled dirty clothes hamper, nothing in this world cleans itself, and if left alone, more of a mess will arise. So starting or running a cleaning business is a great way to capitalize on never ending demand for a cleaning service, either for home or business use. On top of this, with the massive rise of companies such as Airbnb and VRBO over the last few years, you are probably not capitalizing on ways to generate more business. Ways in which your competitors are, however! Not to worry, here is the perfect recipe to wipe away your competition, and send your cleaning company to the next level.

1. Retarget Website Visitors

We live in an age where we do so much online. From online banking to buying tickets for sporting events, to catching up on the latest news from around the world. One of the most powerful ways to grow your business is to introduce a retargeting campaign into your marketing mix. Retargeting, also known as remarketing is a must for any business. You see, when a visitor comes to your website, a cookie is placed on their browser. So now when they leave your site without buying from you, they will see ads for your business all over the internet. The two biggest platforms to run a retargeting campaign is on Facebook and Google’s AdWords platform. All you need to do is set up a campaign on one or both of these networks, add the piece of code they give onto your website, and every time a new person comes to your site, they get added to your remarketing list. So for the next month or more they will see your business everywhere online that they go. This is an incredible way to keep building your brand into their mind throughout their time on your list, which gives your business the opportunity to reel them back in to eventually make a purchase of cleaning service from you.

2. Taking Bookings Online

As mentioned earlier, Airbnb especially has given rise for the need of even more house cleaning services. This is especially great news for you and your business, as it opens the doors to jobs that never would have existed before. However, how can you capitalize on this massive growth the same way your competition is? Simple. Setting up and maintaining an online booking service is the best way to lock in appointments from clients who want their homes or rental properties cleaned. The big advantage of taking online bookings is that a customer can book a cleaner service with you, no matter what time of day, and regardless of whether they are on their desktops or out on their mobile device. Just imagine the power of someone being able to book a cleaning service with you, by selecting the exact time and day they need you to be there. In the Airbnb example, someone would know when check out would be, and be able to set the appointment with you right at the time their guests check out. Taking-Bookings-Online All this without having to waste your time taking phone calls, when you could be spending more of your time on your most profitable task, which is cleaning the houses. If you consider that more and more cleaning companies are using online booking software, this is one area of your business you cannot afford to miss out on.

3. Have A Referral Program In Place

Just think back to when the last time you made a purchase was. It was most likely after you asked a friend or relative for a recommendation. Having someone close to you suggest a business or service reassures you that the company is reputable, and therefore you feel more comfortable moving forward and making the purchase. So who is your best sales person for your cleaning business? Your existing customers. Your current customers are your best sales team because they use your service, they like your service, and if you had a referral system in place that you promoted to them, they are more than happy to promote your company if you offer them even a little incentive, such as a percentage discount on their service, or a dollar reward amount. When you start to implement the above strategies into your business process, you should start to notice an improvement in your sales and growth so that you can leave your competitors in the dust.

  1. Thank you for all of these tips. My sister owns a cleaning service company. I will send her these tips so she can improve her business. I know that a referral program is important because all of her customers come from referrals at the moment! Another thing that is really important that wasn’t mentioned getting your website professionally looked at and adjusted so more customers can find it. Thanks again for the insights!

  4. Wonderful tips. I just setup display advertising in adwords and think it’s a great way to target customers who have been on my site but didn’t end up booking our cleaning services.
I’ve seen an increase in returning visitors after this was implemented.

  5. Awesome tips! Referral Program sounds a brilliant idea. Most of the businesses are doing this now and why not try it in a cleaning service. Thanks for sharing!

  6. I couldn’t agree more with the online booking. We have a what they call a lead capture form on our housekeeping website, which I was told worked similar to online booking? I have been receiving forms every other day and it’s been fantastic! We give site visitors the option to pick the service requested, office cleaning, carpet cleaning etc. I’m looking to expand with the marketing soon, will definitely look into the retargeting ads, thank you so much!
